Chores

Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

Chores is a shared chore list for households. This page says what it stores about you, why, and who else handles it. There are no ads, no analytics or tracking scripts, and your data is never sold.

What we store

  • Your account: your name, email address, time zone, and a hashed password if you set one. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name and email from them, and from Google your profile picture's address.
  • Your households: the households you create or join, their members, the chores in them, who they're assigned to and when they were done, and the email addresses you invite.
  • Sign-in sessions: for each device you're signed in on, its IP address and browser or app version, so sessions can be recognised and revoked.
  • Connected AI assistants: if you connect one from your account page, the access you granted it, so it can read and update your households on your behalf.

Cookies

Only the cookies that keep you signed in and carry a household invitation through sign-up. None are used for advertising or tracking.

Who else handles it

  • Amazon Web Services runs the app and sends its email, in Sydney, Australia.
  • Neon hosts the database, also in Sydney.
  • Sentry receives error reports when something breaks. They are set up to leave out personal details.
  • Expo delivers updates to the mobile app.
  • Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.

How long it's kept

Your data stays for as long as you have an account. Sign-in sessions expire after a week without use.

Deleting your data

Email choresworkapp@gmail.com from the address on your account and we'll delete your account and everything tied to it. Households you share keep the chores in them for the other members.
